Description
A Victorian Darning Sampler, c.1870 from the Feller Collection.
Caroline tells us “We believe this to be a teaching piece as the loops of the darning sections have been left on the front where there would typically be on the reverse. The darning sampler was framed upside down probably because the lettering can be read both ways. This is worked in by cotton and silk thread.”
Design size is 164 x 155 stitches.
Model was stitched on 40 count linen with Soie d’Alger 2536 and DMC 935.
