Description
Cross stitch pattern from Barbara Ana Designs. This startling pattern is inspired by a Frida Kahlo’s painting called “The wounded deer”. In the painting, the artist pictures herself as an injured deer, sticken with arrows, the animal’s head substituted with her anguished face. Barbara Ana’s cross stitch work focuses on Frida Kahlo’s extraordinary beauty, in contrast with the artist’s immense suffering. Horns growing out of her head allude to the deer and a single arrow that has pierced her neck, to the deadly wound. The neck disappears in a sea of blue, it almost seems as if Frida was drowning. Stitch count 58 x 92.
